2018 Alaska Bear and Puffin Photo Tour
7 Days and 6 nights including lodging, air transportation from Anchorage, boat trips, and meals!
Amazing Brown Bears
See Brown Bears up close as they feed, play and even nurse young cubs. This trip is offered during my favorite time of year at Lake Clark National Park. The grass is green and short. The bears may be feeding on grasses or clamming. We could see a wide range of behavior including nursing and even mating.
We stay at a comfortable lodge complete with a chef and baker. We have plenty of room to spread out for downloading images and charging batteries.

Our tour will begin in Anchorage with a welcome dinner. Day 2 will begin with a small plane flight down the coast to Lake Clark National Park. From there, we will be spending 6 days and 5 nights at a remote lodge in Lake Clark National Park. Our meals will be top notch and the lodging very comfortable, and both are included, allowing us to focus on photographing bears, puffin and beautiful scenery.
Now let me stop for a second and explain, if you have never spent time up close to these magnificent animals, you are in for a real treat. We will have numerous bears at any given time walking, sleeping and feeding around us, sometimes relatively close – it is a thrill every person should experience once, and for a photographer, a dream come true!

Day 2: We will be transported to Lake Hood wheel plane strip where we will enjoy a small plane flight down the coast to the lodge at Lake Clark National Park. After lunch, we will begin bear viewing!
Days 3 – 6: These days will be busy with bear viewing. It is not uncommon for us to be out before breakfast and well after dinner when the light is the best. We typically take a break mid day for downloading, napping etc.
At some point during the trip we will take a boat trip to the bird island where we will see lots of puffin, murres and other shorebirds. A sea otter is a possibility as well. Most trips we usually take a second boat trip as well.
Day 7: After a morning with the bears and breakfast, we will fly back to Anchorage. We suggest guests schedule departing flights for the following day as a precaution for weather delays. If that is not possible you will want to schedule same day departures as late as you can and no earlier than 4:00 p.m.
